Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Spark- Video

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Spark

Connor: Hey, everyone, Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, here, for our 2020 Chevy Spark. The automatic battery disconnect here is going to be an excellent option here for our Chevy Spark. And the reason for this, mainly the main reason here is that our owner's manual does allow for this vehicle to be flat-towed if it has a manual transmission. However, in order to do this, we do need to disconnect the battery. There's usually a couple of reasons behind this, such as battery drain while our vehicle is in-tow, as well as sometimes disabling some of the components on the vehicle so it can be flat-towed without damage. The automatic battery disconnect isn't a requirement, although it is required that we disconnect our battery here. more

Now the seven-way trailer connector these are going to be used on our larger trailers that have a brake output circuit. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Equinox- Video

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

Rob: Hey everybody. It's Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Charge Line Kit for towed vehicles on our 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. Now, whether you've flat towed a vehicle before or maybe you're just new to it, once you start doing it for a while, one thing you might realize is that once you get where you're going, your vehicle's battery may be dead. Especially if you have a supplemental braking system in. Because that supplemental braking system uses your Equinox's battery to run that braking system and to slow and stop the Equinox down. So if you're towing it for a really long time and you don't make any stops, you don't start your Equinox, that battery can drain down and it's just a hassle because then we've got to get jumper cables out, find somebody to start our car for us and it just puts a damper on our trip. But the nice thing is, is our charge line is going to make sure that the battery on our Equinox gets a trickle charge any time that we're hooked up to our motor home because our charge line is actually going to run through and be hooked into our tow bar wiring. more

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Connor: Hey guys, how's it going Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect here for our 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. So the battery disconnect is going to be one of the needed components to flat tow our vehicle here. Keep in mind, it's not required for every vehicle, but it is here for our Chevy Silverado 1500, which is why we have it installed. So according to our owner's manual, when our vehicle is in tow behind a motor home, the battery needs to be disconnected so we don't have to worry about any electrical draw from our other components, which would then in turn kill the battery, and then we'd have to jump it when we arrive to our destination. So how this works is we insert our key into the ignition here. Right now, our switch in our system is disengaged. more

Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Rob: Hey everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. Now, whenever you're going to flat-tow your Equinox behind your motorhome, you need a way to get those light signals to the back. Now, a lot of diode kits aren't going to come with an umbilical cord or the socket, that's where our Flexo Kit is going to help us out because we're going to be able to transfer the signals from our motorhome through the cord into the six-way plug on our vehicle that's tied into our tow bar wiring, that way, when we're driving down the road, if we need to change lanes, the motorhome signals are going to mirror what's on our Equinox so that everybody around us knows what's going on and we can be safe traveling down the road.I really like this style cord because it is coiled, so whenever we have it hooked up all the way, we'll still have enough slack for it to stretch when we go around turns, but at the same time, you can see it's going to retract back and it's going to keep all that slack from dragging the ground. On one end of the cord, we're going to have our seven-way connector, this is going to be pretty standard for most RVs and it's still going to have that little latch on there to make sure that it catches the door so it won't get ripped out for any reason. On the other end, we're going to have a six-way connector, and just so you know there is two different industry standards of how the cord is wired up, and our Roadmaster cord, the center pin, is for your power. They're also going to give us a six-way plug. more

Deka Battery Side Bolt Extender Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Express Van- Video

Deka Battery Side Bolt Extender Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Express Van

Hi there Express fan owners, today in our 2015 Chevrolet Express, we're going to be showing you how to properly add powered accessories to your side post battery using Deka's side posts battery extender. T.he problem we have with our factory bolts is that there's no room to add any ring terminals or additional wiring to it.If you try to, you can potentially damage the threads on your battery. If we go over here to our positive post, we've already got our extender in place, and you can see here, we've got plenty of room to add wires to power, any of our accessories. And we have no fear of damaging our battery. The post is made of brass. So it's going to be an excellent conductor. The bolt length itself is one and three-quarter inches, and this is important if your batteries in a tray, that's got a pretty tight fit. You don't want your battery positive, sticking out to work in ground on anything on the body.Let's go ahead and install it now, and we'll show you how to do that. We'll begin by removing our battery positive post.If you are worried that you may touch your wrench on anything grounded, you can take your negative terminal off first as this is recommended to keep you from accidentally shorting anything out.Once you've got it loose, we can just take it off here, and that will pull it back. Our bolt we'll then remove from the rubber covering, maybe helpful to use a pick or a flat-bladed screwdriver to assist you in getting out of there.Regardless of which vehicle you have, all your side posts are basically the same. They all use a very similar sized bolt and similarly shaped a rubber housing that keeps the bolt in place. And on your express van here, your side post, isn't going to be different than anything else.Your battery post is going to be inside of your rubber housing here, we'll just need to pop that out of there. So you can use a pick or a flat blade screwdriver to work your way behind the covering, and pop the bolt out. We'll now take our new one from Deka, slide it all the way in, and then we can reinstall it onto our battery. When tightening it down you want to make sure you don't over-tighten it as the lead material inside is a softer metal, so it is possible to over-tighten it.We'll tighten it down using a five, eight inch wrench or socket. The stud coming off of our post is one and three quarter inch length, which gives you plenty of length to add accessories and be able to fully tighten the nut on it.And the diameter of our stud is three eighth of an inch.So you want to make sure you purchase appropriately sized ring terminals to get all of your accessories mounted. If you need some ring terminals. So you can pick those up here at etrailer.com. more

Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Equinox- Video

Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to walk you through the installation on the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller on your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox with the Factory Tow Package. Most of the time when we think about a brake controller, it's on a larger vehicle, or on a big truck that may be pulling big trailers. On a smaller SUV like this, maybe you have a boat trailer that has brakes on it, or maybe you have a camper, a small camper that has brakes on it. Maybe you're going on a camping trip and you want to make more room for your passengers inside, so you want to put all your gear into a trailer and that trailer has brakes on it.You've pulled each of these things and without a brake controller you have felt the trailer as you're coming up to a stop pushing on the car. It's an uncomfortable feeling when you're coming up to the back of another car that's already stopped and it doesn't feel like your car is stopping. Adding a brake controller to the vehicle is not only going to make your driving experience much better, but it's going to make your passengers much more comfortable during the ride. The trailer brake controller is going to be a proportional brake controller, so when you apply the brakes in the vehicle it's going to apply the same amount of pressure in the trailer depending on how you have it set, whether that applies the brakes a little bit sooner or a little bit later. more

Hi there, Silverado owners. Today in your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, we're going to be installing B&W's Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch. In order to complete the installation we'll be using B&W's Turnoverball Gooseneck Custom Installation Kit for Chevy and GMC.This gooseneck hitch is going to be hidden underneath the bed of your truck. The underbed rail design keeps most of the components under the bed; this way, you can maximize the amount of space in the bed of your truck when you don't want to haul a gooseneck trailer. But when you're ready, you can simply throw your ball in, and you're ready to go.To ensure you don't lose your ball when not in use, it stores flush by simply flipping it over and dropping it back down. Speaker 1: Today our 2017 Chevrolet Cruze we're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how I installed the Roadmaster Battery Charge-line kit for towed vehicles. Part number RM-156-25.What this charge line's going do for you it's going to allow you to charge your battery in your vehicle while it's being flat-towed.How it does that is when you hook your 6-pole to 7-pole hookup, your umbilical cord between your RV and your car. That power is going to be drawn from your RV battery while you're traveling. It's going to travel through the wire and keep your battery charged so that when you get to your destination you unhook your car, your vehicle is ready to go.It's going to be one of five main components in the flat-two set up. The other components are going to be your safety cables, your wiring, your braking system, and you tow-bar.As far as the installation on your battery charge line it is very, very simple. It comes with one single red wire, couple of ring terminals, and that's it.Now, how we got it installed, this is going to be your super-breaker here, one side, the copper side, is going to say battery. more

Now the really nice thing about this is it is going to be one solid piece. We're not going to have to assemble anything, and it's going to have really solid welds all the way around so it's going to be really strong. The only thing we're going to have to do is put in a single wing nut. more

Most cases, you'll need to leave the key on so the wheel can turn, and there's some kind of power draw while it's in tow mode, and when we get to our destination, the battery's dead. The auto battery disconnect allows us to have a switch inside so we can turn off the battery connection. To do that, you'll see there's two battery cables that come off. The reason you're going to want a battery charge line kit is, if you're using a supplemental braking system when you're flat towing your vehicle, it's going to draw power from your vehicle, thus discharging your battery. By having this charge line kit, it'll maintain a charge on your battery as you're driving down the road so, when you arrive at your destination, you're not surprised with a dead battery. You'll be able to start your car up and go explore. This kit works with a simple circuit breaker so you don't have to worry about any overloads damaging any wiring in your vehicle or overcharging your battery. The battery disconnect is going to break that power between the battery and all your accessories shutting your accessories off, in turn saving your battery life. Now, the way this works is this button right here, when we push it you're going to hear a click and it's going to shut off all of your interior. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Express Van- Video

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Express Van

Speaker 1: Today in this 2010 Chevrolet Express Van we will be having a look at, and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller part number TK90160.To ease your install we'll be using universal seven way trailer brake controller kit, part number ETBC7.Here's what our brake controller looks like installed. Now what's great about this brake controller, is that this is a proportional brake controller, which allows us to slow down smoothly, and safely when we're towing a trailer, and our brakes are being applied instantly versus with a timed delay brake controller, it's also not gonna give you a jerky ride like a time delayed brake controller would. Now the reason you're gonna want a brake controller such as this one is if you're towing a trailer that has electric brakes, you won't be able to control them without having a brake controller. Now what sets this brake controller apart from other proportional units on the market is not only is this a very high quality unit, but it's also a very simple one to use without a lot of overly complex features. This gives you the basic functions that you need in order to safely, and easily utilize trailer brakes. To our right we have our manual override, and what this does, this will apply our trailer brakes to the maximum level that we have set the further we press it in.The reason you want a manual override is because if your trailer starts to sway behind you, or starts to jackknife, you would want to slow the trailer down, not your vehicle, that'll make things worse. So by applying this, only the brakes on the trailer will be applied without you applying your vehicle's brakes.Over here to the left this is our gain adjustment knob. This knob here controls how much power is being sent to your trailer brakes. Right now if it's set all the way up you see our display reads at 11, and we start to roll it back it'll start to drop back down all the way down to zero, which means no trailer brakes being applied.General rule of thumb, you want to start it somewhere in the middle, so about five and a half will be ideal. more

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2000 Chevrolet Express Van- Video

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2000 Chevrolet Express Van

Speaker 1: Today on this 2000 Chevrolet Express van, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar and axle bracket kit, part number RM-1109-175-00, in conjunction with the Roadmaster axle mounting bracket kit for Chevrolet Express van chasses, part number RM-590061-00.Here's what our sway bar looks like installed. There are many reasons you're going to want an aftermarket sway bar on your motor home. One is if your vehicle doesn't already have a sway bar on the back of it, such as this one, this is going to greatly reduce the amount of side-to-side sway in the back. So when we're driving down the road, by having our sway bar in place, if a semi we're to pass us, we won't be steering trying to keep our vehicle to go straight. This will allow us to keep the steering wheel more centered as we're driving in a straight line. Also, when we're going around the corners, we won't be having to counter-steer quite as much when we're leaving the corners because we're not having the body roll that we're used to having without having the sway bar in place. So for example, if we're turning left, we'll have more weight transfer to our right side and that'll cause the right end to dip down and the left side to pick up. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado- Video

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number is RM-156-25.Now this charge line kit is really important on these GM vehicles with the steering wheel lock situation, you have to leave your key on. Even though you turn off the fan, you turn off the air, you turn off the radio, it still drains the battery. This allows us to take power from our red wire that we've got connected to the 12 volt power source on the back of our RV, that goes through a breaker and we've got it connected right here to our positive battery cable. This gives us a trickle charge effect. As we're driving down the road, the battery's constantly getting a little bit of a charge and a little bit of a charge to keep it up and maintained. The breaker is in place to help prevent any kind of overloading. If you're vehicle, maybe you've left the radio on or you've left the fan blowing, it's going to be drawing power from your battery of course. That excess draw will cause this breaker to heat up slightly and disconnect power temporarily until that system cools back down and it'll make contact again, so it's a very safe and very effective way to charge your battery while you're flat towing. The first step in the installation is going to be to get our breaker mounted. more
